Boudha is a stupa in Nepal's Kathmandu. Its vast mandala makes it one of Nepal's and the world's largest spherical stupas, located around 11 kilometers (6.8 mi) from Kathmandu's center and northeastern suburbs. Over 50 gompas (Tibetan convents) have been built near Boudha as a result of the inflow of large populations of Tibetan refugees. Boudha Stupa has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Kathmandu area, alongside Swayambhu.
